IBM System Storage requirements
If you use IBM® System Storage® DS8000® series, SAN Volume Controller, or Storwize® family storage systems, be aware of database, log, file, and LUN settings.
Follow these guidelines when you plan for IBM System Storage:
- Place database files on a separate and dedicated logical volume.
- Place logs on a separate logical volume.
- Ensure that the database LUNs are dedicated to only one database or application.
- IBM Storage Protect Snapshot with IBM SAN Volume Controller and IBM Storwize V7000 The way in which you configure the VSS hardware provider and how you configure your IBM SAN Volume Controller and IBM Storwize V7000 device dictates the characteristics of your VSS snapshots. VSS snapshots are implemented as flashcopys on an IBM SAN Volume Controller and IBM Storwize V7000 device. FlashCopys consist of a source volume and a target volume.
