As part of your preparation activities, install and run the Prerequisite Checker
tool before you install or upgrade to a new version of IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot for UNIX® and Linux®. Running the tool on your system automatically
checks for compatible operating system, database instance, and volume group layout in preparation
for installing IBM Storage Protect
Snapshot.
Before you begin
In a distributed DB2® data partitioned
environment, the Prerequisite Checker can be installed and run on any system that is hosting an
active DB2 partition. Verify that your environment meets the
hardware and software requirements of the IBM Storage Protect
Snapshot Prerequisite Checker.
Procedure

Download the IBM Storage Protect Prerequisite Checker
installation file for your operating system from the download website. For information about
downloading the Prerequisite Checker, see the Download Information.
- Log on with the root user ID.

Start the installation wizard by running one of the following commands:
- AIX®:
<VERSION>-FCM-PREREQ-AIX.bin [-i console
| -i swing]
- Linux:
<VERSION>-FCM-PREREQ-Linux.bin [-i
console | -i swing]
where,
-i console indicates that the Prerequisite Checker is installed with
the console version of the installer.
-i swing indicates that the Prerequisite
Checker is installed with the GUI version of the installer. This method is the default.

Complete the steps of the installation wizard. Choose to install the Prerequisite Checker to an
arbitrary checker_path.
