Backing up an Oracle database to IBM Storage Protect server

IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot require specific software when you back up an Oracle database to IBM Storage Protect server.

Before you back up to IBM Storage Protect server, ensure that the following requirements are met:
  • Data Protection for Oracle must be configured on the backup server.
  • A RMAN backup script that is created by the user must contain the Data Protection for Oracle TDPO_OPTFILE environment variable. Specify the fully qualified path name to the tdpo.opt options file with the TDPO_OPTFILE environment variable (ENV parameter). The allocate channel command and the ENV parameter must be specified on the same line. Also, the database command must be specified on a line separate from the backup command in the RMAN backup script. See RMAN backup script example.
