Setting up daemons
By default, IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot daemons are started and restarted automatically. If you need to stop and start the daemon processes for any reason, you can do this as required.
About this task
Important: If you want to configure the background daemons in a clustered environment,
add the commands that are listed here to the High Availability (HA) startup scripts on the
production system.
<instance directory>/acsd<instance directory>/acsgen -D<instance directory>/fcmcli -D (optional)
- The management agent, acsd
- The generic device agent, acsgen -D
- The offload agent, fcmcli -D, if offloaded backups to an IBM Storage Protect server are to be started after a snapshot backup.
For each backup or clone instance, a mount agent, acsgen -D -M, must be
started.
When you run the setup script in advanced mode, you can request that the daemons are not to
be started automatically by the operating system. In this case, daemons must be started and set up
to be restarted by other means.<instance directory>/acsgen -D -M -s <deviceclass>[,<deviceclass>...]<clone instance directory>/acsgen -D -M -s <clone_deviceclass>[,<clone_deviceclass>...]
Results
Two or more device classes are specified in a list, separated by comma.
