Before you install IBM® Storage Protect Snapshot for UNIX™ and Linux™, review the system, application, and storage requirements.
Review the Pre-installation Checklist that is attached to the technote for
the hardware and software requirements for IBM Storage Protect
Snapshot. The detailed hardware and software
requirements are published as a part of the Hardware and Software Requirements technote
which can be found at this link: http://www-01.ibm.com/support/docview.wss?uid=swg21427692.
From this technote, select the required software version and then select the required component
link. The hardware and software requirements page contains the Pre-installation
Checklist and an Installation Planning worksheet.
Note: The
Pre-installation Checklist contains the most current requirement information, use this
list to validate your environment.
The following conditions are the minimum environment requirements:- A suitable disk layout of the application on the production server
- Correctly defined storage definitions on the storage system
- Connectivity from the production server to the storage system

The installation planning sheet helps you to determine the correct type of installation
that is required for your environment. The following areas are covered in the planning sheet:
- How to determine the configuration mode for your environment.
- How to decide the parameters and settings for the specific application that you want to protect. The required parameters for each specific software application are outlined in the planning sheet.
- How to determine the parameters and settings for the specific storage system that you use in your environment.
- What passwords are required during the installation.
