Troubleshooting update issues

The topic describes some common issues that you can face when you update IBM Storage® Protect Plus and vSnap servers.

Operating system update fails on IBM Storage Protect Plus

If the administrative console screen displays the error message RHEL 9 Upgrade Unsuccessful within 30 minutes of starting the update, the operating system update is failed and you cannot process further.
Reason of failure
Some environment-specific packages present on customer environment might be incompatible with the RHEL 9 upgrade, causing failure.
Steps to resolve the error
  1. Prepare the system for the operating system update.
    • Make sure the /data folder has enough space for the full RHEL 9.5 ISO.
    • Remove any other .iso files in the /data directory (no need to check sub directories).
  2. Download the complete RHEL 9.5 ISO.
    • Obtain the Red Hat Enterprise Linux 9.5 Binary DVD (rhel-9.5-x86_64-dvd.iso) from the official Red Hat website.
    • Copy or move this file to the /data directory on the IBM Storage Protect Plus.
  3. Restart the standard update process again. The procedure uses the full RHEL 9.5 ISO instead of the customized ISO that is available in the manifest.
