New features and updates
- System updates
- Java upgrade
IBM Storage Protect Plus (SPP) now runs on Java 21, delivering improved performance, security enhancements, and long-term support benefits.
Note: System updates are supported only for upgrades from versions 10.1.17.0, 10.1.17.1, and 10.1.18 to version 10.1.19.
- Important considerations during an update
-
- The administrative console UI can become accessible before the update is completed.
- Do not use or modify any settings in the administrative console UI or SSH prompt until the IBM Storage Protect Plus is successfully updated and running.
- The ISO upload location is changed from /tmp to /data due to the larger ISO size requirement.
- Verify that /data directory has more than 12 GB of available space and no stale ISO files from previous update attempts are present in the directory
- If any additional RPMs or packages are installed that are not provided by IBM, uninstall them before you start update to prevent conflicts.
- Administrative console UI error message
- If you see the following error message at the time of the first restart, ignore it.
"Errors encountered while attempting to reboot IBM Spectrum Protect Plus virtual appliance." OR “IBM Spectrum Protect Plus has been updated successfully, but IBM Spectrum Protect Plus restart failed. Contact product support.”
The operating system update continues in the background, and the system automatically restarts and proceeds with the update. No user action is needed.
