Resolving problems related to node password

If OSSM node password expires, you may see error or warning messages on your system. These messages are also logged in the IBM Storage Protect server's activity log.

Before you begin

The error messages are similar to the following messages that you might experience while using OSSM.

Error messages in IBM Storage Protect Plus:

  • CTGGA2364 An exception occured during target volume mapping. Failed to create target volume: error Failed to get session, load <nil>
  • CTGGA2649 Backup of virtual machine (VM) pod1 has failed. Error: Failed to create target volume: error Failed to get session, load <nil>

Warning message in IBM Storage Protect:

  • ANR0425W Session 2167 for node <node_name> refused - node password has expired.

Procedure

To resolve the problem and establish the OSSM node credentials, complete the following steps on the IBM Storage Protect server:
Important: The OSSM service must be stopped for all the VADP proxies that are connecting to the affected OSSM Storage before you update the node. This action ensures that no open sessions are connected to the IBM Storage® Protect server.
  1. Log in as a root user and stop the OSSM service.
For instructions about starting and stopping the OSSM services, see Starting and stopping the OSSM service.
  2. As the Db2 instance user, issue the following command:
    /opt/tivoli/tsm/ossm/bin/ossmctl repair-credentials -c /home/spinst1/ossm/config_primary.json
    where,

opt/tivoli/tsm/ossm/bin is a installation directory where OSSM is installed.

home/spinst1/ossm is a path to the config_primary.json file.

  3. As a root user, start the OSSM service.

What to do next

As a root user, on all associated VADP proxies, start the OSSM service.
