Testing a cloud connection
You can test a cloud connection to verify that the server can still access the cloud storage system.
About this task
When you try to create or edit a cloud connection, the server verifies that it can access to the cloud storage system by using the information that the connection provides. If the server cannot access the cloud storage system, the create or edit operation fails. For example, the server might be unable to access the cloud storage system because the cloud connection specifies inaccurate credentials or because a cloud URL or ID could not be resolved.
After a cloud connection is created, the server tests the cloud connection at regular intervals. The interval is determined by the server option ConnectionHealthStatusInterval, which is 1440 minutes (once a day) by default. You can modify this server option to specify a different interval by editing the server options file (dsmserv.opt) or by using the SETOPT command.
A cloud connection might fail because access information was updated for your cloud service provider, but the cloud connection was not updated. A failure might also indicate a temporary problem that is resolved without your intervention. For example, a temporary network problem might prevent the server from accessing the cloud service provider, or your provider might be experiencing an outage.
If the Operations Center reports a Critical status for a cloud connection, you can troubleshoot the problem by using the Test Connection action.
