Add IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server

Use this wizard to connect an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server to the Operations Center for monitoring. The Operations Center uses this connection to get status information from the server, and displays this information in a dashboard view.

The wizard establishes a secure connection between the Operations Center and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server, and verifies that you are authorized to monitor the server. The wizard creates or identifies a user account on the server. The Operation Center uses this account to monitor the virtual environment that is managed by the server.

The following pages are shown in the wizard:

Identity page

The following configuration items are available on the page:

Server address
The host name or IP address of the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. The Operations Center must have connectivity to this server.
Port (optional)

IBM Spectrum Protect Plus provides web access by using Hypertext Transfer Protocol Secure (HTTPS) communication. It provides this access over the standard port for HTTPS communication (443). By default, the Operations Center uses port 443 to establish a connection with the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. You typically do not need to override this default. Specify an alternative port only if your instance of IBM Spectrum Protect Plus is using a nonstandard port for HTTPS communication. For example, the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus instance might be using a nonstandard port to avoid a port conflict with another application that is listening on port 443.

Certificate page
Communication between the Operations Center and the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server must be secured by using the Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. To enable encrypted communication, IBM Spectrum Protect Plus sends its TLS certificate to the Operations Center.

You must accept this certificate to establish a monitoring session with the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. Before you accept the certificate, verify that the information that is shown on the certificate is correct for your organization. If you doubt the certificate's authenticity or if you have any other concerns, consult your organization's IBM Spectrum Protect Plus administrator. If you are satisfied that the certificate is authentic, click Accept. When you accept the certificate, it is added to the truststore file of the Operations Center. By accepting the certificate, encrypted communication with the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server is enabled.

Authorization page
To display status information from the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server, the Operations Center requires a monitoring user account on the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server. This monitoring user account can either be an existing user account or the wizard can create one.
Use Operations Center credentials
Select this option to use an existing user account as the monitoring account. The user name and password of the account must match the user name and password of the Operations Center administrator account that is using this wizard to connect to the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server.
Create a monitoring user account
Select this option to have the wizard create a user account for monitoring. You must provide credentials for an IBM Spectrum Protect Plus user account that has permission to create custom user roles and to create user accounts. The credentials that you supply are not saved. The Operations Center logs in to the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus server by using the account credentials only to create a monitoring user role and account. The Operations Center monitors the IBM Spectrum Protect Plus environment by using the new monitoring account.
