Step 4 (Guest VM): Restore a database

To verify that you correctly configured application protection, restore a database with Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server.

Before you begin

Ensure that the following required are running on the guest virtual machine (VM):

At the command prompt, issue the following command:
```
services.msc
```
Locate IBM Storage Protect Recovery Agent Service in the list of services and, if necessary, start the service.
Locate Microsoft iSCSI Initiator Service in the list of services. If necessary, change the startup type to Automatic and start the service.

Complete the following steps on the guest VM:

Start the Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange Server Management Console.
Select an Exchange Server instance in the tree.
Navigate to the Recover tab, and click Refresh.
Select a database entry that has the VMVSS backup method.
In the Action pane, click Restore.
When the restore operation is complete, review the database and any related mailboxes.
