To ensure that your data is protected regularly, schedule virtual machine (VM)
backups.
Before you begin
By default, the maximum size that is allowed for a virtual hard disk (VHDX) in a backup operation
is 2 TB. However, you can increase the maximum size to 8 TB by using the
vmmaxvirtualdisks option. For more information, see Vmmaxvirtualdisks.
Procedure

Start the Data Protection for Microsoft
Hyper-V Management Console.

In the navigation pane, click a stand-alone host or cluster from the navigation pane.

In the Actions pane, click Backup Management.

Select a schedule in the Backup Management window and click
Assign Schedule.

To close the window, click Close.

Verify that the source of the schedule includes the VMs that are hosting Microsoft SQL Server.

Verify that one of the following services is running:
- If you are using a scheduler that is managed by a client acceptor (CAD), ensure that the client
acceptor service is running on the data mover.
- If you are using the stand-alone scheduler, ensure that the scheduler service is running.
