Checking the configuration of the Linux® file restore environment

After configuring the Linux mount proxy for a file restore operations session, validate the environment and requirements of Data Protection for Microsoft Hyper-V by running the precheck utility. Do this before you work with Linux file restore.

About this task

The Data Protection for Microsoft Hyper-V precheck utility is a shell script that validates the environment used for Linux file restore. Run this script to check:
  • operating system support
  • dsmcad status
  • firewall status
  • libssh2 status
  • iSCSI status
  • status of automounter, multipath and lvmetad, lvm2-lvmetad daemons
Note: The precheck script runs on:
  • SUSE SLES 11SP4 and upwards. The tool is not available for SUSE 11SP3.
  • Red Hat Enterprise Linux 6.7 and upwards.

Procedure

To invoke the script:

  1. Go to /opt/tivoli/tsm/scripts
  2. Run the precheck script: ./precheck.sh
