Running Must-Gather scripts

You can run the Must-Gather script for IBM Storage Protect for Mail – Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange to collect diagnostic information required by IBM Support.

How to run the Must-Gather script

  1. Open a terminal at the Must-Gather script directory.
  2. Run the following command. For example:

    perl mustgather.pl --product sp-client-exchange --output-dir <target_path> --caseno <case_number> --adminid <id> [options]

Data Protection for Microsoft Exchange module

Module Description

config

Collects IBM Storage Protect configuration files (dsm.opt, dsm.sys, dsminfo.txt).

logs

Gathers client logs such as dsmj.log, dsminstr.log, dsmwebcl.log, dsmerror.log, and dsmsched.log.

performance

Captures performance metrics and instrumentation logs (dsminstr.log).

exchange

Collects dsm.opt, relevant client logs (dsmerror.log, dsminstr.log, dsmsched.log), Windows version details. Also gathers tdpexc.log, tdpexc.cfg, and outputs of TDPEXCC QUERY TSM, QUERY EXCHANGE, and QUERY TDP.

Output summary

At the end of execution, the script automatically creates a zip file:

mustgather_<case_number>_<product_name>_<timestamp>.zip

Check script.log inside each module folder for detailed failures.

This file can be sent to IBM Support team for analysis.

The .zip file contains the diagnostic data for each module.
