Communication

The communication concepts between Data Protection for IBM® Domino® and the IBM Storage Protect server are described.

Data Protection for HCL Domino communicates with several product APIs to complete various functions. The IBM Storage Protect API is accessed in order for Data Protection for HCL Domino to communicate with the IBM Storage Protect server. The Domino API is accessed for communicating with the Domino server during database operations, and DB2® enabled Notes® data is accessed by communicating with the DB2 Recovery API. The communication protocols and option parameters are specified in the dsm.opt options file. You can end a Data Protection for HCL Domino client session by running the Cancel Session command from a IBM Storage Protect admin client. Do not press Ctrl-C as it can lead to unexpected results.
