Restarting the DB2 instance

If your SAP database is DB2® Version 8.1 FP2 or older, the DB2 instance can be restarted to set the DB2 profile registry variable and the vendor environment file contents as the default values for DB2.

If you choose not to restart the DB2 instance or if you need to override the defaults of the DB2 instance, the name of the vendor environment file can be set with each invocation of the DB2 BACKUP DATABASE or DB2 RESTORE DATABASE command. DB2 Version 8.2 (8.1 FP7) provides the VENDOROPT option as the primary method of setting the vendor environment file values in the database configuration.
