Power BI

Procedure

To recover the backup data of Power BI, complete the following steps:

Note: In IBM® Storage Protect for Cloud Microsoft 365, the administrator can configure the end-user restore setting to control whether to allow Workspace admins, members, and contributors to restore Power BI backup data from IBM Storage Protect for Cloud Recovery Portal.

  1. Click the Power BI tile.
  2. When you click the Workspace field, this field will list all workspaces you have. Enter or select a workspace where you want to restore backup data.
  3. To search for Power BI reports by their names, enter keywords in the search box and click Search.
  4. The search results will be listed. A maximum of 2000 search results can be displayed. By default, the items listed in the search results table are the latest backup data. If your desired items are not in the table and there is a message indicating that you can search for more backup data, click here in the message at the bottom of the table.
  5. Select the checkboxes next to the reports that you want to recover. If you want to select all reports, select the top checkbox next to Name in the table.
  6. Click Restore to restore selected reports to their original locations.
    Note the following:
    • The reports restored will inherit the permissions of the destination workspace.
    • The sharing link of a report will not be restored.
    • If the last modified time of the conflicting destination content is the same, the restore will be skipped; if the last modified time is different, the conflicting destination content will be kept, and the backup data of the conflicting content will be added to the destination with a sequential number suffix (for example, _1) added to the file name.
    • Workspaces can contain a maximum of 1000 datasets or 1000 reports per dataset. If the limit is exceeded, the restoration will fail.
    • For reports whose names contain special characters:
      • If the report name contains /, \ or :, the restored report name will only contain the characters after the special character. For example, if the report name is 123/456, the restored report name will be 456.
      • If the report name contains ", <, >, or |, the restored report will be renamed as File Model.
      • The * and ? have no effect on restored report names.
  7. Once the restore/export job starts, click Request history to view the progress of the job. In Request history, you can also view simple job reports and download exported data. For more details, refer to View Request History and Download Exported Data.
