Starting an activity instance
Describes how to start an activity instance in IBM Sterling Partner Engagement Manager (PEM) 6.3 after an activity has been rolled out.
Before you begin
Before you begin:
- Roll out the activity definition.
- Sign in to PEM as a user with permission to start activities.
About this task
After an activity definition is rolled out, users can start activity instances to begin executing the workflow.
Each activity instance represents a single execution of the activity definition for selected participants.
Procedure
- Open the list of available activities in the PEM user interface.

Select the rolled‑out activity that you want to start.
Only activities that have been rolled out are available for execution.

Start a new activity instance.
Provide any required information, such as selecting participants or specifying initial activity details.

Confirm that the activity instance has started.
Verify that the activity instance appears in the list of active activities.
Results
The activity instance is started, and the workflow begins execution.
What to do next
After an activity instance is started, users complete tasks assigned to them to progress the activity.
