IBM PEM and Sterling File Gateway integration overview

IBM PEM integrates with the Sterling File Gateway on-premises product to form a solution.

With this solution, you can work with IBM PEM and the Sterling File Gateway products to set up and use activities such as Partner self-service onboarding. During self-service onboarding, REST APIs are used to configure onboarding information from your partners into your Sterling File Gateway product installation. Your Partners can also do self-maintenance through this integration after onboarding to update their information as needed.

If Partners are already onboarded in the PEM Portal, they need not be onboarded again in PEM Partner Repository or PEM Partner Provisioner.

PEM Portal self-maintenance process

PEM Portal can also use the integration path that is used to self-onboard to update their information later. After they successfully onboard, they can use their IBM PEM Partner Portal to enter the updated information, and send the information to your Sterling File Gateway product.

Setting up the integration

To set up this integration, you must be a Sterling File Gateway customer, and also an IBM PEM customer. You must have the Sterling File Gateway 2.2.6.1 patch or later installed and configured before you set up the integration with IBM PEM. Your company's Sponsor Administrator must be set up on the PEM Portal. The process for setting up the IBM PEM-Sterling File Gateway integration is outlined in Getting started with IBM PEM integration.

For more information about setting up Sterling File Gateway, see the Sterling File Gateway Quick Start documentation.

Using the integration

To use the IBM PEM-Sterling File Gateway Integration to obtain onboarding information from your Partners, go to the PEM Portal and roll out activities to your Partners. The activities that are required for Sterling File Gateway Partner self-onboarding are already provided, and only need to be modified by you. You can roll out activities by Partner groups or by attributes to expedite the process for multiple Partners. For information about setting up Partner groups and assigning attributes, see the IBM PEM Sponsor documentation for details.

After you roll out any of these IBM PEM activities to your Partners through the PEM Portal, you can monitor your Partners' progress through the activity monitoring functions in PEM Portal or in PEM Partner Provisioner. For information about monitoring activities, see the Sponsor documentation.

When the self-onboarding process is completed, your partners are onboarded to your Sterling File Gateway product.
