Configuring password settings

A system administrator can configure the password settings on the System Configuration page.

Before you begin

Ensure to enter the correct values for the system configuration properties as the values that you enter are not validated. If you enter a field value that exceeds the maximum length defined in the database, the values might get truncated.
Important: It is recommended to use the default values.

Procedure

  1. Sign in to the PEM Portal as a System Administrator.
  2. Click Settings.
  3. Edit values for the following properties:
    Property Name Property Value
LOCK_OUT_DURATION_HOURS Enter the number of hours a user is locked out after the invalid attempt count exceeds the number of MAX_INVALID_ATTEMPTS. The default value is 1 hour.
PASSWORD_EXPIRY_DURATION_DAYS Enter the number of days a user password is valid before it expires and the user must change the password. The default value is 90 days.
MAX_INVALID_ATTEMPTS Enter the number of invalid authentication attempts a user can make before the user is locked out of the system. The default value is 5 attempts.
DISALLOW_PREVIOUS_PASSWORD_COUNT Previously used passwords are cached, and you cannot reuse previously used passwords. Enter the number of previously used passwords a user cannot reuse. The default value is 8.
FORGOT_PASSWORD_EXPIRY_DURATION_DAYS Enter the number of days that a Forgot Password link is valid before it expires. The default value is 30 days.
RESET_PASSWORD_EXPIRY_DURATION_HOURS The number of hours that a Reset Password link is valid before it expires. The default value is 24 hours.
OTP_EXPIRY_DURATION_IN_MINS Configure the One Time Password (OTP) expiration in minutes. By default, OTP expiration is set to 30 minutes.
    • If you enter an invalid value, for example, 4$, the system defaults the value to 30 minutes.
    • If you enter a value that is less than 30 minutes, for example 25 minutes, the system defaults the value to 30 minutes.
    • If the value is greater than 30 minutes, for example 40 minutes, the system considers 40 minutes.
  4. Click Save.
