Performing a rolling upgrade to IBM Spectrum Symphony

When performing a rolling upgrade, you first upgrade the hosts in your cluster; then upgrade your existing cluster configuration to the latest version of IBM Spectrum Symphony.

You can perform a rolling upgrade from the same product edition and operating system to the latest version of the same product (for example, you can upgrade from IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 Advanced Edition on Linux® to IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2 Advanced Edition on Linux).

To start your rolling upgrade process, upgrade each local host to by running the installation package for IBM Spectrum Symphony 7.3.2. Install IBM Spectrum Symphony on hosts in this order:
  1. Install and entitle the product on the primary host.
  2. Install on primary candidate hosts.
  3. Install on other management hosts.
  4. Install on compute hosts.

If your environment contains IBM Spectrum LSF®, when you run the IBM Spectrum Symphony installer, it detects whether common components (such as EGO) require upgrading, or if they were upgraded during another product upgrade. The IBM Spectrum Symphony installer only upgrades what is required for IBM Spectrum Symphony.

After you install the latest version of IBM Spectrum Symphony on all your hosts and restart EGO on each host, upgrade the cluster by running the egoupgrade cluster command on the primary host.
