Authorizing a cluster to join the federation cluster

After the multicluster proxy service is enabled for a lone cluster, and the proxy registers with the primary cluster, the cluster is listed in the multicluster management console federation cluster waiting list. The next step is for this lone cluster to join the federation cluster, so that it can participate in multicluster features and become a member cluster. A cluster administrator, or a user with SMC_CLUSTER_CONTROL permission, can authorize a cluster to join the federation cluster.

Procedure

  1. From the multicluster management console, click Resources > Federation Cluster > Waiting List.
  2. Select the cluster you want to authorize to use multicluster features.
  3. Click Join.

The cluster name now appears under Resources > Federation Cluster > Members, indicating that it is now a participating member of the federation cluster. It is now a member cluster, and no longer a lone cluster.
