Mapping slots in a multidimensional resource plan

Follow these steps to optionally specify what a slot represents in terms of resource metrics in a multidimensional resource plan. Slot mapping is necessary for consumers that are running slot-based applications such as SOA and MapReduce, and EGO services to get resources from a multidimensional plan.

Before you begin

You must have access to root consumer "/" with Resource Plans Modify permission to configure a resource plan.

Procedure

  1. From the cluster management console Dashboard, select Resources > Resource Planning (Multidimensional) > Resource Plan.
  2. Click the Slot Mapping tab.
  3. Configure global slot mapping if the slot definition suits the workload of all or the majority of consumers in the resource plan.

Optionally, you can configure slot mapping for each individual consumer; you may want to do this if the global definition does not suit the workload of specific consumers.

Note: If you only have permissions for SymExec, SymExec72, SymTesting, and Symping72, global slot mapping cannot be configured, though you can still configure slot mapping for each individual consumer.
  4. Click Apply to save the changes.
