Exporting an XML resource plan

Export a resource plan, as an XML file, that you can modify offline to change the distribution of resources to your cluster. Use any XML or text editor to make changes. For XML export, you export all resource plans for all resource groups.

Before you begin

  • You must be a cluster administrator or consumer administrator for a branch to export a resource plan.
  • You can export an XML resource plan that uses a share or hybrid policy with a stacked, balanced, or exclusive allocation policy.
  • Do not change your tree structure while the plan is exported; if you do, you cannot import the plan again.

About this task

This topic provides steps using the cluster management console; you can also export a slot-based resource plan using the egosh consumer exportresplan command.

Procedure

  1. From the cluster management console, select Resources > Resource Planning (Slot) > Resource Plans.

    Your resource plan displays.

  2. Click Export XML Policy.
  3. Save your resource plan locally.

Results

You have exported your resource plan. You may want to give the resource plan file a unique name including date or plan specifics, so that you can import the plan of your choice quickly and easily at a later time. For XML export, you exported all resource plans for all resource groups.
