Host blocking
A blocked host is no longer available as a resource for that application or service, so that the system does not continuously try to start services on a host that is lacking vital software or hardware requirements. The host blocking feature prevents IBM Spectrum Symphony from repeatedly trying to run a service on a host that does not have adequate hardware or software resources.
Host blocking based on task failures
To minimize the possibility of a host being blocked because of a temporary network or disk I/O error, configure heuristic host blocking so that only those hosts on which more tasks fail are blocked.
Host blocking for services
Host blocking for a specific service of an application enables the host to be used for other services, instead of blocking the host for all services of the application, thus improving resource usage.
Retry tasks on different hosts
When a task is unsuccessful on one host, set up IBM Spectrum Symphony to rerun the task on another host. Retrying a task on another host is useful especially when the status of a host causes a retry task to fail repeatedly on one host. Typically, a task can fail for two reasons: because of an application error, or because of an infrastructure error (an unavailable host, or communication between SIM and SSM disconnects).
