Retrieving MapReduce logs for a MapReduce service

You can retrieve the logs for the MapReduce service in the event of a service instance startup failure. The application manager lists up to five of the last service startup failures.

1. From the cluster management console Dashboard, select Resources > Hosts > List and Icon View.

   A list of hosts displays.

2. In the Hosts (List View) tab, select a host and from the Action dropdown list, click Retrieve Logs.

   A new window opens.

3. In the Log retrieval parameters section, select the MapReduce service log (pmr.service.application_name.log_index.log) and click Retrieve Log List.

   A list of log files displays.

4. Click the log file name.
5. Save the log file locally and open with any text editor.
