Removing resource groups

Remove a resource group if it no longer meets your needs or is not being used. Hosts must not belong to multiple groups, so when you create new groups, ensure that you modify or delete the old groups.

Before you begin

You must be logged in as a cluster administrator or have the Resource Groups Manage permission to remove a resource group.

You cannot remove a resource group if it is being used in the resource plan. Modify your plan until no resources are allocated from the resource group you want to remove.

Procedure

  1. From the cluster management console, choose your navigation based on whether the resource group is used for slot-based scheduling or multidimensional scheduling:
    • To view hosts in a resource group used for slot-based scheduling, select Resources > Resource Planning (Slot) > Resource Groups.
    • To view hosts in a resource group used for multidimensional scheduling, select Resources > Resource Planning (Multidimensional) > Resource Groups.

A list of existing resource groups displays.

  2. Locate the resource group you want to remove and select Actions > Delete Resource Group.
  3. Confirm that you want to delete the resource group.

What to do next

Check that your resource plan is correct for all remaining resource groups.
