Start processing a storage tiering rule immediately

With IBM Spectrum Protect Version 8.1.8, you can start to process a storage tiering rule immediately without waiting for its scheduled start time. In this way, you can verify that the storage tiering rule works as expected.

Storage tiering rules are used to optimize storage by moving data from disk storage to cloud or tape storage, which can be more cost effective. To start processing a storage tiering rule immediately, take one of the following actions:

Use the START STGRULE command.
In the Operations Center, click Storage > Tiering Rules. Then, select a tiering rule and click Run Now.

With this new feature, you can immediately start to process a storage tiering rule even if the rule is inactive.
