Copy data from container storage pools to tape for disaster recovery

With IBM Spectrum® Protect Version 8.1.11, you can help to improve data recoverability by copying data from directory-container storage pools or on-premises cloud-container storage pools directly to tape. Tape can be a cost-effective alternative for storing a hydrated, air-gapped copy of your data that can be used for disaster recovery.

You can define a storage rule to schedule a daily copy operation for your container storage pool by using the DEFINE STGRULE command with the ACTIONTYPE=COPY parameter setting. After you define a copy storage rule, you can specify exceptions to the rule by using the DEFINE SUBRULE command. For example, if you define a copy storage rule to copy all data in a container storage pool, you can define a copy subrule to exclude the data in one or more nodes from the copy operation.

Tip: Alternatively, to create copy storage rules by using the Operations Center, click Storage > Storage Rules, and then click +Create Rule.
