Settings (Performance)

The Performance tab on the Console > Configuration > Settings page configures the Boost plug-in, which is designed to enhance Cacti performance, especially for large sites.

The Boost plugin enhances performance by reducing I/O on RRD files, and reduces CPU load by caching commonly viewed graphs. RRD updates are done through an update server and only update on demand to reduce workload.

On Demand RRD Update Settings: This section customizes how the boost plug-on does on-demand RRD. This operation reduces the overall I/O and can enhance RTM performance. You should enable the feature and enable Direct population of poller_output_boost table by spine and leave the rest of the settings as default.
Image Caching: Enables image caching to save I/O and CPU resources on commonly viewed graphs. Instead of on-demand graph generation, once the graph is cached, it is not regenerated.
