Viewing Syslog messages

If enabled, the Syslog tab displays entries from the UNIX log files in the /var/log directory in each host of the clusters that RTM monitors. Each data record displayed here is an entry in one of the log files.

The System Logs subtab of the Syslog tab contains the following fields:

  • Actions: Action that you can perform on the log file entry. You can either create a removal rule or create an alert rule that is based on this entry.

  • Date: The date of the log file entry, which is taken from its time stamp.

  • Device: The name of the host in which the log file entry is recorded.

  • Message: The contents of the log file entry.

  • Facility: The name of the system, log, or service that recorded the log file entry.
