Upgrading services

You can choose to upgrade Data protection service from the IBM Spectrum Fusion HCI user interface.

Before you begin

Before you upgrade the Data protection, follow the instructions if you are using the online installation mode.
Note: If you are using airgap installation mode, delete the catalog source named ibm-operator-catalog from the openshift-marketplace namespace if the ibm-operator-catalog source exists.

Edit catalog source named ibm-operator-catalog and, if ibm-operator-catalog source exists.

About this task

This procedure provides steps to upgrade the backup and restore services in IBM Spectrum Fusion.

To upgrade Global data platform in version 2.3, contact IBM Support.

You can view the availability of an upgrade in the following user interface pages:

In OpenShift® Container Platform web management console, go to Overview page and check the Activity section.
In the IBM Spectrum Fusion user interface:
- Notification banner on the Quick start page.
- Click the bell icon and view notifications in System notifications.
- Notification banner on the Services page.

Procedure

Log in to IBM Spectrum Fusion HCI user interface.
Click Services menu to go Services page.
Upgrade Data protection as follows:
1. Click the ellipsis menu of Data protection section.
  Only if an upgrade is available for Data protection, the Upgrade option is available in the menu.
2. Click Upgrade.
  The Upgrade data protection window gets displayed. It displays the upgrade versions and approximate time to complete the upgrade.
3. In the Upgrade data protection window, click Upgrade.
  The upgrade starts and you can see the upgrade status. If you see the following error message on the screen, ignore it as IBM Spectrum Protect Plus goes back to healthy state after the upgrade completes successfully:

```
  After the completion of upgrade, a success notification gets displayed.
