Streamlining product names for an enhanced experience

To enhance your experience with our products and to provide a more streamlined set of solutions, IBM Storage is aligning the names of products and product bundles across its portfolio. This renaming effort is solution-focused and can help accelerate your ability to identify the storage products that you need, where and when you need them.

What's the impact? While the name of IBM Spectrum Control remain the same, many of the products that they monitor are updated. The updated names are shown on the IBM website, in the product-related GUIs and publications, and in the GUI and documentation for IBM Spectrum Control.

Introducing volume group

You can now monitor and view information about the volume groups for IBM Storage Virtualize storage systems. This information includes the number of volumes in a volume group, the replication state, its snapshot policy, rollup server connection and much more. You can also measure the performance of a volume group such as the average and maximum recovery time in seconds, number of replication writes, and number of blocks that are replicated.

To view the volume groups for a storage system, go to Storage > Right-click a storage system, and select View Details. Then, click Volume Groups in Internal resources section.

Hitachi Ops Center support

You can now add Hitachi VSP storage system using Hitachi Ops Manager in IBM Spectrum Control.

While adding the new Hitachi storage system for Ops center, if you enable Performance Monitoring check box, then you will have to fill the Ops center analyser detail view fields. To add a new Hitachi storage system for Ops center, go to Add Storage systems and select Hitachi. Learn more about the Hitachi Ops Center.

If you enable performance monitoring while adding new Hitachi storage system for Ops center, then the Ops center analyser detail view fields are also available for any modification in the already added Hitachi storage system. To update the fields, go to Resources > Block Storage Systems, right-click the storage system, and then click Connections > Modify Connection.

In Data collection schedule, you can specify the time interval for monitoring the performance. To view Data collection schedule, right-click on Hitachi storage system and select Data Collection > Schedule.

Note: Hitachi Command Suite is not supported on AIX platform.
Important: For IBM Spectrum Control installed on RHEL (x86-64): Spectrum Control version 5.4.11 is only supported on RHEL 8 (all versions). Do not install or upgrade to IBM Spectrum Control 5.4.11 on RHEL 7 (all versions) or earlier as it leads to an unstable environment and loss of access.
