Get more secure with multifactor authentication
Enhancing the security around user access is an important part of protecting your network and applications against unwanted intrusions. In an unparalleled time of global connectivity and proliferation of IoT devices into every aspect of business, the threat of cybercrimes is ever present. Organizations must safeguard their applications -- and metadata -- diligently, defending against breaches that can harm operations. To help provide an extra layer of protection and reduce your security risks, you can now use multifactor authentication to control user access in IBM Spectrum Control.
Currently, IBM Spectrum Control requires you to enter a username and password to log in and monitor your storage. Your access is authenticated based on the local OS or LDAP group that your username belongs to. With multifactor authentication enabled, you can now require more pieces of information when users log in for more secure verification. Multifactor authentication uses any combination of two or more methods, called factors, to authenticate you to IBM Spectrum Control and protect your metadata from unauthorized access.
How it works: To provide multifactor authentication, IBM Spectrum Control integrates with IBM Security Verify, a cloud-based identity and access management (IAM) service provider. This service provides different factors to validate and verify users. An Administrator within IBM Spectrum Control configures this integration. Then, when other users log in, they must enter a username and password and a second form of identification that is requested by IBM Security Verify.
Enhanced support
