Setting the session timeout value
How to change the timeout value for a Common Internet File System (CIFS) session from a Windows client.

registry. If you make any error when you edit the registry, you can potentially cause Windows to fail or be unable to boot, requiring you to
reinstall Windows. Edit the registry at your own risk.
Always the registry back up before you make any changes, according to the Microsoft website instructions.
Procedure
- From the Start menu, click Run....
- Type regedit in the Open: field and click OK.
- Expand
and locate the registry subtree as follows:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ SYSTEM \ CurrentControlSet \ Services \ LanmanWorkstation \ Parameters - Add a new REG_DWORD key with the name of SessTimeout.
- Set the timeout value. It is recommended to initially set the timeout value at 600 and then change the value according to the situation of your machine.
- Reboot the client.
