Symbolic links
Limitations when you use symbolic links on a Windows system.
IBM Spectrum Archive™ supports symbolic links, however there are limitations on a Windows system. On a Windows system, however, it is possible to access symbolic links that were created on another platform (Linux® or OS X).
The following limitations exist when you use symbolic links on a Windows system:
- The user cannot create a new symbolic link between another file system and Spectrum Archive.
- The user cannot create a new symbolic link in Spectrum Archive.
- The user cannot delete a symbolic link in Spectrum Archive.
- The user cannot rename a symbolic link in Spectrum Archive.
- Accessing the symbolic link is always forwarded to the target of the link.
- The target of the link is shown as a file, even if it is a directory.
- The target of the link is not shown. For example, the dir command shows
... as the target, as shown in the following
example:
