Troubleshooting Microsoft Authenticator compatibility
Multifactor authentication fails when you use the Microsoft Authenticator application.
Root cause
There is a time synchronization issue between Microsoft Authenticator (client) and the IVIA authentication server. The time skew causes TOTP (Time-based One-Time Password) authentication to fail. Attempts to increase the allowed clock skew on the server side does not resolve the issue.
Solution
Use the Google Authenticator app instead of Microsoft Authenticator for multifactor authentication with IBM® Sovereign Core.
To set up Google Authenticator:
- Download and install the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device.
- During the login process, use Google Authenticator to scan the QR code or manually enter the setup key provided.
- To complete the login, enter the authentication code generated by Google Authenticator.
You are now successfully logged into IBM Sovereign Core
