High-level installation planning steps
  1. Prepare your bare metal landing zone machine, which must be running Red Hat® Enterprise Linux 10.1 (RHEL 10.1).
  2. Download the installation package from IBM as detailed in the email you received with your IBM entitlement key. To pull the installation package and any associated patches you must have ORAS installed. For the information about the installation including ORAS and other steps required, see Installing IBM Sovereign Core.
  3. You must have a Red Hat account for this step. Download the RHEL entitlement key and Red Hat OpenShift® Container Platform pull secret. For information about how to do this, see Getting a Red Hat entitlement key. For more information about the Red Hat process, see Red Hat OpenShift pull-secret.
  4. Run the preinstallation tool to generate the required configuration files. For information and steps, see Running the IBM Sovereign Core preinstallation tool. Alternatively, you can enter the values manually in the following files.
    • template.env
    • global.yaml
    • certificates.yaml
    • cloud-infra.yaml
Note: Use the sample configuration files to create copies, such as the global.example.yaml.
For more information about this step and the installation process, see Installing IBM Sovereign Core.
  5. Install the product by running the installation script on the prepared bare metal landing zone. Make sure to run the entire procedure, including all post-installation steps. For information about how to install IBM Sovereign Core, see Installing IBM Sovereign Core.
