Importing reports and generating the framework

After you upgrade OpenPages, import the platform reports package to update the reports that are used with Cognos Analytics, and then generate the reporting framework. Do this task if you use Cognos Analytics.

Before you begin

  • The OpenPages instance is running.
  • The Cognos Analytics instance is running.

Procedure

  1. Back up the following file: <COGNOS_HOME>/deployment/OpenPages_Solutions.zip.
  2. Log on to Cognos Analytics as a user with administrative privileges by doing one of the following steps:
    • In OpenPages, click Analytics.
    • Or, go to the following URL: http://<hostname>/ibmcognos/bi

      Where <hostname> is the name of the Cognos Analytics instance.

  3. Click Manage > Administration Console to launch the IBM Cognos Administration page.
  4. Click the Configuration tab, and then and click Content Administration.
    Tip: To access this area in IBM® Cognos® Administration, you must have the required permissions for the Administration secured feature.
  5. Import the platform reports package.
    1. On the toolbar, click New Import.
    2. From the Deployment archive list, select the <instance_name>-OpenPages_Platform_Reports package, and then click Next.
    3. Click Next.
    4. Type a unique name, an optional description, and a screen tip for the deployment archive, select the folder where you want to save the package, and then click Next.
    5. In the Public folders, directory and library content box, set the target folder. Click the Edit icon and select the <instance_name> folder, and then click OK.
      The following clip shows how to select a folder.
      The Public folders, directory and library content page is displayed. In the Target name column, click the edit icon. The is selected. The Specify the target location page is displayed. Click Select another location and choose the <instance_name> folder.
    6. In Options > Include report output versions > Conflict resolution, select Keep existing entries.
    7. Click Next.
    8. On the Specify the general options page, accept the default options and click Next.
    9. Review the summary, and then click Next.
    10. On the Select an action page, click Finish.
    11. On the Run with options page, click Run and then, on the IBM Cognos software page, click OK.
  6. Import the solutions reports package.
    1. On the toolbar, click New Import.
    2. From the Deployment archive list, select the <instance_name>-OpenPages_Solutions_Reports package, and then click Next.
    3. Type a unique name, an optional description, and a screen tip for the deployment archive, select the folder where you want to save the package, and then click Next.
    4. In the Public folders, directory and library content box, set the target folder. Click the Edit icon and select the <instance_name> folder, and then click OK.
    5. Click Next.
    6. On the Specify the general options page, accept the default options and click Next.
    7. Review the summary, and then click Next.
    8. On the Select an action page, click Finish.
    9. On the Run with options page, click Run and then, on the IBM Cognos software page, click OK.
  7. Close the Administration Console.
  8. To view the imported package and reports in Cognos Analytics, click the Home icon, and select the folder where you imported them.
  9. In OpenPages, generate the reporting framework.
