Getting started with watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand

Architects and developers can use watsonx Code Assistantâ„¢ for Z Understand to work with generative AI to understand and analyze your mainframe applications. With watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand, you can use a chat interface and access different data sources to get application insights and discover business rules.

watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand provides these capabilities:
Web UI
  • A Visual Code extension that you can use to analyze your applications.
  • A build CLI that you can use to build and manage application projects from the Terminal on Linux or Linux on System Z.
  • A web UI that provides a chat window and access to different data sources so that you can get application insights and discover business rules.

Checking whether the service is installed

An administrator must install watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand.

To check whether the service is installed:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Services > Services catalog.
  2. Search for watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand.

If the service is installed and ready to use, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to use.

Accessing the service

Code Assistantâ„¢ watsonx Code Assistant for Z Understand is available from IBM watsonx Code Assistant experience.
