Post-installation setup for watsonx BI
Before you can use watsonx BI, a Business Intelligence Administrator must complete the following setup steps.
Prerequisites
To complete the post-installation setup for watsonx BI, one user must have the role of Business Intelligence Administrator.
Setting up and configuring your watsonx BI community
Complete the following steps to set up and configure your watsonx BI community:
- Log in to IBM® Software Hub and use the 9 dot switcher to switch to the Business Intelligence perspective.
- Load sample data. You can use sample data to familiarize yourself with watsonx BI and
to understand the types of questions you can ask.
- Customer experience
- Data from the call center of a fictional mobile phone service provider. This sample includes call metrics for over 100 agents and over 500,000 support calls.
If you choose not to load sample data at this time, any user can load sample data at a later time.
- Complete the following steps to add users if:
- You are adding users to IBM Software Hub for the first time:

- First, connect an identity provider by going to IBM Software Hub > Navigation menu > Access control > Identity provider configuration.
- Choose which type of identity provider you want to add and provide the required information.
- Make sure that the users you want to add are in your connected identity provider, then click Users > Add users to add individual users or User groups > New user group to add multiple users with the same role.
- Provide the required information and assign each user or group the role of User.
- The invited users must accept the invitation to IBM Software Hub, then you can proceed to configure user roles in the watsonx BI community.
- You have existing users in IBM Software Hub:

- In the Business Intelligence perspective, click the Settings icon > Configuration and settings to open the Manage BI community tab.
- Click Add members then either Add users or Add groups.
- Select the users that you want to add and assign them a role.
- You are assigning new roles to an existing watsonx BI user:

- In the Business Intelligence perspective, click the Settings icon > Configuration and settings to open the Manage BI community tab.
- Click the name of the user whose role you want to change > Role and assign the new role.
What to do next
After you complete these steps, watsonx BI is ready to use.
