Creating a service instance for Data Replication

When you install Data Replication, a service instance is created automatically. You can optionally create more service instances in the operands project. You can choose the method or methods that you want to use to create service instances.

You can run a maximum of four concurrent replication jobs with a single Data Replication instance. You can provision additional service instances to:
  • Run additional replication jobs and increase or decrease your workloads as needed.
  • To isolate workloads in test and production environments, or work on proof-of-concepts without affecting other workloads.
Who needs to complete this task?
The permissions that you need depend the method that you want to use:
Method Required permissions
cpd-cli service-instance create command You must have the Create service instances (can_provision) permission in IBM® Software Hub.
/v3/service_instances REST API call You must have the Create service instances (can_provision) permission in IBM Software Hub.
Web client You must have the Create service instances (can_provision) permission in IBM Software Hub.
When do you need to complete this task?
You can complete one of the following tasks if you want to create additional service instances.

Procedure

Create a service instance by using the appropriate method based on our permissions and your preferences.

Note: Once you have created the Data Replication service instance, you need to grant access to enable users to run their replication on the new Data Replication service instance.
