Installing service-specific software on remote physical locations
After you add a remote physical location to a data plane, users can create service instances to run workloads on the remote physical location. You must install service-specific software to enable users to provision services instances on the remote physical location.

Before you begin
Best practice: You can run the commands in
this task exactly as written if you use set up environment variables for the remote physical
location in addition to the installation environment variables script. For instructions, see Setting up
environment variables for a remote physical location.

task, ensure that you source the environment variables for:
- The primary cluster
- The remote physical location

You can create service instances on remote physical locations for the following services:
- Analytics Engine powered by Apache SparkRestriction: If you want to create Analytics Engine powered by Apache Spark instances on remote physical locations, you cannot use job interface in Analytics Engine powered by Apache Spark. You must set
sparkAdvEnabledto false. For more information about this setting, see Specifying additional configurations for Analytics Engine powered by Apache Spark. - DataStage
