Getting started with Informix

With Informix, a fast scalable database server can be created that manages traditional relational, object-relational, and dimensional databases.

Self-managing capabilities and small footprint of Informix are well suited for embedded data-management solutions. Informix is accessed using client developed applications that manage access to the data stored in the provisioned instance.

Checking whether the service is installed

An administrator must install Informix.

To check whether the service is installed:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Services > Services catalog.
  2. Search for Informix.

If the service is installed and ready to use, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to use.

If the service is installed but no service instances have been created, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to provision.

Important: Even if the service is Ready to use, you must be added to a service instance to use the service.

Accessing the service

Pop-out Informix is a pop-out service. You can access the service from the Service > Service instances page.
Restriction: The Service > Service instances page is not available in the IBM Software Hub experience. If you are logged in as an IBM Software Hub administrator, you must switch to a different experience before you can access the page.
