Trying to access the catalog ends with 403 error

You cannot open the IBM® Knowledge Catalog that contains your table metadata from the Data Gate dashboard.

Symptoms

After you click the link (blue arrow) on the IBM Knowledge Catalog Integration tile of the dashboard, the dashboard returns a 403 Error (access error).

Causes

To create the data catalog instance in IBM Knowledge Catalog, Data Gate uses the credentials created in step 2 of the configuration. If the user specified during the configuration is different from the Data Gate administrator that is currently logged in and operates the Data Gate instance, the logged in user might lack the access privileges needed to view the catalog.

Resolving the problem

You can fix this problem by giving the currently logged in user the privilege to view the IBM Knowledge Catalog instance:
  1. Log the currently logged in user out.
  2. Log in again with the user ID that was specified in step 2 of the configuration setup.
  3. Identify the catalog. To find it, click Cloud Pak for Data main menu icon, then select Catalogs > All catalogs.
  4. Click the entry of your catalog.
  5. In the catalog window, click the Access control tab.
  6. In the upper right of the window, select Add collaborators > Add user.
  7. In the Add collaborators as Viewers window, select the required role, for example Viewer.
  8. In the field under the label Collaborators, type the name of the user you logged out in step 1.
  9. Click Add. You return to the catalog window. The recent action is confirmed by a message in the upper right of the window:
1 collaborator was successfully added to the catalog.
