Creating a service instance for watsonx BI from the web client

After you install watsonx BI, you must create the watsonx BI service instance in the operands project. If you are a IBM® Software Hub user, you can use the web client to create the service instance. The web client guides you through the process of creating the service instance.

To create a service instance from the web client, you must have the Create service instances permission in IBM Software Hub.

Complete this task only if you want to create a service instance from the web client.

Before you begin

This task assumes that the following prerequisites are met:

Procedure

To create a service instance:

  1. Log in to IBM Software Hub as an administrator.
  2. Switch to the IBM Cloud Pak for Data experience, if needed.
    1. Click the Switch locations icon (Switch locations icon) in the toolbar.
    2. Change the experience to IBM Cloud Pak for Data.
  3. From the navigation menu, select Services > Instances.
  4. In the Services catalog, find the watsonx BI service and make sure that it is Available, then click the watsonx BI service.
  5. From the Summary page for watsonx BI, click Provision instance.
  6. From the Instance details page, specify a name for the new service instance.
  7. For the Namespace for your instance, select the control plane namespace, then click Next.
  8. For the starting configuration, select a T-Shirt Size for the instance.
    Note: You must select Small at this time.
  9. Review the summary and click Create.

Results

It can take approximately 30 minutes for the provisioning process to complete. You can continue to use other services in IBM Software Hub while the process completes.
