Changing the configuration of the target database
The default configuration of the target database (Db2 or Db2 Warehouse) is changed during the Data Gate deployment process (not the case for remote Db2 databases). These changes guarantee that Data Gate works properly. In addition to that, you can make manual changes to the target database configuration to optimize the performance.
- For the target database configuration changes that are made automatically by Data Gate during the initial deployment or during an upgrade, see Changes to the target database.
- Generally, you make manual changes to the configuration of your target database by following the steps in Changing Db2 configuration settings.
- For configuration changes that enhance the performance, see steps 2 and 3 in Installing a Db2 instance for Data Gate on Cloud Pak for Data.
- Before upgrading or scaling your target database memory as described in Scaling up the target database, make sure that your configuration changes are consistent. That is,
after changing the
db2uClusterorDb2uInstancecustom resource, you must also apply these changes to the target database container (see Changing Db2 configuration settings). Otherwise, important configuration changes for Data Gate might get lost.Important: TheDb2uClustercustom resource is deprecated and will be removed in a future release. The following example illustrates the configuration flow for theDb2uInstanceCR. For further information about changing Db2 target database configurations, see Deploying Db2 using a custom resource for Db2 and Changing Db2 Warehouse configuration settings for Db2 Warehouse.
