Configuring Data Gate query acceleration

The setup of the query acceleration feature requires a Db2 Warehouse target database, a few ZPARM settings on the Db2 for z/OS side and the selection of a checkbox on your Data Gate instance.

Before you begin

Make sure that the Db2 Warehouse service is installed on Cloud Pak for Data or you provide a Db2 Warehouse instance for remote Db2 connections.

Procedure

  1. Before configuring query acceleration, follow the appropriate steps based on your Db2 Warehouse deployment type:
For locally provisioned Db2 Warehouse instance: Create the target database while provisioning your Data Gate instance, then select Use this data gate instance for query acceleration.
For remote Db2 Warehouse instance: Skip target database creation (provide remote connection details instead), and select Use this data gate instance for query acceleration during Data Gate provisioning.
  2. As you create the instance, select Use this data gate instance for query acceleration.
  3. On the DSNTIP82 installation panel of the connected Db2 for z/OS system, set the following Db2 for z/OS ZPARMs:
    • ACCEL=AUTO
    • QUERY_ACCEL_OPTIONS=TRUE

The second setting brings up the DSNTIP8A panel, which allows selection of the types and characteristics of queries that will be routed to Data Gate. For a description of the individual options, see Setting ZPARMs for IBM Db2 Analytics Accelerator in Db2 for z/OS.
