What's new and changed in Data Gate

The Data Gate release and subsequent refreshes can include new features and fixes. Releases are listed in reverse chronological order so that the latest release is at the beginning of the topic. Only the refreshes that contain updates for Data Gate are shown.

Installing or upgrading Data Gate

Ready to install or upgrade Data Gate?

A new version of Data Gate was released in February 2026 with IBM Software Hub 5.3.1.

Updates
The following updates were introduced in this release:
  • The feature that allows you to connect Data Gate to a remote Db2 target database has been improved:
    • To support analytical use cases, you can now also connect to a remote Db2 Warehouse database.
    • Remote Db2 target databases can be connected to from the Data Gate provisioning UI.
    • You can now the encrypted port used for connections to the remote Db2 target database.
    • The feature documentation has been improved. See Connecting to a remote Db2 instance.
Issues fixed in this release
The following issues were fixed in this release:
  • Issue: An expiry of the timeout period for the reading of Db2 authentication certificates prevented the start of Data Gate instances.
  • Resolution: A Db2 certificate read timeout no longer prevents the start of a Data Gate instance.
  • Issue: The existence of a second database in addition to BLUDB in the target Db2 instance prevented the start of Data Gate instances.
  • Resolution: You can now add a second or even more databases to the target Db2 instance. The existence of multiple databases no longer prevents the start of a Data Gate.
  • Issue: Race conditions between parent and child processes on the Data Gate server blocked table load processes.
  • Resolution: These rare conditions no longer block the loading of tables in the Data Gate instance.

This release of Data Gate includes the following features:
Remote Db2 support for Power
You can now connect an additional type of target database to Data Gate: a remote Db2 target database that is running on a Power computer (PPC64LE architecture). For details, see Connecting to a remote Db2 instance.
Certificates signed by third-party CA
Data Gate now supports SSL-encrypted connections to the Db2 or Db2 Warehouse target database that are secured with certificates signed by an external certificate authority (CA).

If you query the status by using a get-cr-status call from the cpd-cli client, the response will now contain a populated progress message column.

Improved documentation of the Db2 Connect Unlimited Prerequisite
Client certificate for login accidentally overwritten by placeholder value
  • Issue: A client certificate for login was accidentally overwritten by a placeholder value.
  • Resolution: The client certificate is not overwritten anymore. It remains available for logins.
