Getting started with MANTA Automated Data Lineage

With MANTA Automated Data Lineage, you can import technical lineage metadata. This metadata provides lineage information which shows where your data comes from, how it changes, and where it moves over time.

The technical lineage metadata information which shows where your data comes from, how it changes, and where it moves over time. You can use lineage information to:
  • Visualize data in a graphical format to better understand data flow.
  • Check data for regulatory compliance.
  • Identify potential risks.

Checking whether the service is installed

An administrator must install MANTA Automated Data Lineage.

To check whether the service is installed:

  1. From the navigation menu, select Services > Services catalog.
  2. Search for MANTA Automated Data Lineage.

If the service is installed and ready to use, the tile in the catalog shows Ready to use.

Accessing the service

Cloud Pak for Data This service is available from the IBM Cloud Pak® for Data experience.

To display technical lineage for assets, complete these steps:
  1. Open the navigation menu and select Catalogs > View all catalogs.
  2. Find the catalog where you imported lineage metadata.
  3. On the Assets tab, search for an asset and on the About the asset panel, click Go to asset's technical data lineage.
